SHARE
Making a Difference in the Lives of African Communities
SHARE is a nonprofit organization comprised of doctors, nurses, paramedics, business, and lay people who volunteer their time to work together toward a common goal to help children and communities in Kenya, Africa.
Our WorkMost of our activities are designed to be partnerships with the people and communities we help: for example, we supply building materials for pit latrines, but only after the community has dug the pits. This policy ensures that the projects are really wanted by the communities and also that the projects will be maintained by them after we leave.
One of many SHARE's projects is as a result of AIDS. SHARE is also important in the lives of U.S. school children, many of whom have worked to earn money they have contributed to SHARE. Much of our support has come from the children of the United States. We try to involve our children here, for it will give them the knowledge that they, personally, can make a real difference in the world.
Our MissionThrough the SHARE Orphan Sponsorship (SOS) program, we provide education, health, and basic necessities to orphaned children in western Kenya. Financial contributions are needed in order for us to continue supporting these children. For only $500 a year, you can make a difference in the life of a child through the SHARE Orphan Sponsorship (SOS) program.
Why sponsorship is neededThe AIDS epidemic has produced thousands of orphans in Kenya, and the numbers are rising rapidly; these are children who do not have AIDS themselves; they have been orphaned by the deaths of both their parents from AIDS. These orphans are in dire need of guardianship, education, and basic necessities; needs that are fulfilled by the SOS program.
